As the closest hotel to the University of Miami, THesis is keeping you up to date on the latest Miami Hurricanes news. With the fall 2022 lineup of athletic events in full swing, here’s a guide to everything you may need to know before heading to a game.
Miami Football
With close to 100 years of competition under their belt, the Miami Hurricanes are a force to be reckoned with. Competing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) places The Hurricanes at a Division I level. The football season typically runs from late August through December, with championship games to follow. The Miami Hurricanes, when playing at home, hit the field at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. You can purchase tickets for a football game on the university’s website.
Miami Basketball
The Miami Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams play at the NCAA Division I level, competing against some of the nation’s top talent. The official NCAA basketball season starts in early November and runs through April of the following year. To catch a basketball game, get tickets online, then head to Watsco Center, just a 10-minute walk from THesis Hotel, for a home game.
Other University of Miami Sports
The University of Miami has a robust athletic program, boasting talented baseball, volleyball, swimming & diving, soccer, rowing, and tennis teams among others. To learn more about both men’s and women’s sports at the university – when and where they take place – visit the Miami Hurricane’s website.
Watsco Center
Home to the University of Miami men and women’s basketball teams, Watsco Center is within easy walking distance to THesis Hotel Miami. With the capacity to hold up to 8,000, the arena is also a popular venue for concerts and other entertainment. Visit the Watsco Center box office to purchase tickets for a variety of exciting events during your next visit to Miami.
Hard Rock Stadium
The Hard Rock Stadium is where The Miami Dolphins and The Hurricanes football teams play during their home games. Situated in Miami Gardens, the stadium is also where the Miami Tennis Open takes place, as well as the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix. Take a look at the upcoming calendar of events and plan your visit.
Parking & Tailgating
Parking lots for Miami Hurricanes games at the Hard Rock Stadium open five hours prior to games. There is no way to reserve space ahead of time, so be sure to arrive early on game day to get the best possible spot for tailgating. UM Athletics has a few noteworthy rules for tailgating before a game, including no irresponsible drinking, stick to the 8’x10′ space provided, don’t play overly loud music and be sure to clean up after yourself.
For an alternative experience, ditch the stadium for THesis’ rooftop pool and terrace, where you can cool down and be refreshed before heading to the stands. Or, check out our special offers and enjoy the game from your amenity-rich guest room, where you can cheer your team on in comfort.
